Fine Art

The assignment was to create a series of fine art images

My strong love for photography began around 21 years old when I was babysitting my niece daily for the first year of her life. I knew I would grow very attached and wanted to preserve our time together through photos of expressions she would make and new activities she would experience. What began as simply capturing moments became a work of art for me. I found that different angles and unique compositions could tell a story much more deeply than typical snapshots. They could show my deep love and affection for this little human being.

During this time I discovered better versions of digital photography and so began my love for Photoshop and post process work. This technique provides me the ability to enhance the mood and emotions I experienced while taking a particular photograph.

In this group of photographs I wanted to record brief moments in time; showing how a flower will never look exactly the same or have the same lights and shadows and capturing a child’s forever innocence.

I asked her to not look directly at the camera
Some color editing with Curves
Imagination

I wanted to capture her enjoying one of her hobbies, writing in her diary.
The window is not the original background, but was masked in
I wanted the vignette to emulate the idea she is in her own little world

It was a task waiting for the clouds to stop passing over the bright sun to get this shot.
